1317 — ‘Abd Allah ibn Muslim informed us. He said: al-Husayn ibn Isma‘il narrated to us. He said: Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn al-Junayd narrated to us. He said: Sulayman ibn Harb narrated to us. He said: Hammad ibn Zayd narrated to us, from Malik ibn Anas, from Abu Sahl, who said: ‘Umar ibn ‘Abd al-‘Aziz said, “What do you say concerning the Qadariyyah?” He replied, “I hold that they should be asked to repent; if they repent, [well and good], but otherwise they should be put to death.” ‘Umar said, “That is my view.”
