103—Ubayd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Ahmad informed us; Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn al-Sabbah al-Harawi narrated to us, saying: I heard Abu Hamid say: I heard Ibrahim al-Harbi say concerning the statement, “They will remain upon goodness so long as knowledge comes to them from their elders”: Its meaning is that if a young person adheres to the teachings of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, the Companions, and the Successors, then he is an elder; whereas if an elderly shaykh follows the opinion of Abu Hanifah and abandons the sunnahs, then he is a junior.
