1294—Muhammad ibn al-Husayn ibn Ya‘qub informed us. Muhammad ibn ‘Abd Allah ibn Ghiyath—Yahya ibn Ja‘far said—related to us. Abu ‘Amir al-‘Aqadi related to us. Sufyan al-Thawri related to us. ‘Umar ibn Muhammad ibn Zayd ibn ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Umar related to me, saying: I was sitting with Salim when a man asked him, “O Abu ‘Umar, is fornication decreed?” He replied, “Yes.” The man asked, “Allah has written it for me?” He replied, “Yes.” The man said, “Allah has written it for me, yet He holds me accountable for it?” ⦗774⦘ He then took some pebbles and struck the man’s face with them.
