1281 — Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Abbas informed us; Abdullah ibn Abd al-Rahman al-Sukkari narrated to us; Zakariyya ibn Yahya al-Muqri narrated to us; al-Asma'i narrated to us that a Bedouin was asked about divine decree. He replied: “It is a matter over which conjectures have contended and disputants have gone to excess. Our duty is to refer whatever of its determination is unclear to us to what has already preceded in His knowledge.”
