1280—‘Abd al-Rahman ibn ‘Ubayd Allah informed us; Ahmad ibn ‘Abd Allah informed us; my father related to me, saying: ‘Abd Allah ibn Yazid al-Muqri’ related to us; Hammad ibn Zayd related to us; Habib ibn al-Shahid related to us. He said: I heard Iyas ibn Mu‘awiyah say:
“I have never debated any of the people of religious innovation using the full extent of my reasoning, except the Qadariyyah. I said to them, ‘What, according to you, is injustice?’ They replied, ‘For a person to take what does not belong to him.’ So I said to them, ‘Yet everything belongs to Allah.’”
