Sharh Usul Itiqad Ahl al-Sunnah wa-al-JamaahAl-Lalakai

1259 — Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahman informed us; al-Baghawi informed us; Dawud ibn Rushayd related to us; Muhammad ibn Harb related to us, from Muhammad ibn al-Walid al-Zubaydi, from Yunus ibn Sayf, that Atiyyah ibn Qays told him that a group visited Kaʿb al-Ahbar and asked him, “How are you feeling, Abu Ishaq?” He replied, “Well—a servant being taken to task for his sin is well off. If his Lord takes him unto Himself, He may punish him if He wills, and He may have mercy on him if He wills; and if He punishes him, He will raise him up cleansed.”
