1257—‘Ali ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa informed us: ‘Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Misri informed us; Yusuf ibn Ya‘qub al-Azdi said: ‘Abd al-Wahid ibn Ghiyath narrated to us; Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Thabit, that Mutarrif said:
“I reflected upon this matter and those who have pursued it, and found that its beginning is from Allah and its completion rests with Allah. I considered what its essential foundation is, and found that its essential foundation is supplication.”
١٢٥٧ - أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى , أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ الْمِصْرِيُّ، قَالَ: ثنا يُوسُفُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْأَزْدِيُّ، قَالَ: ثنا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ، قَالَ: ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ , عَنْ ثَابِتٍ: إِنَّ مُطَرِّفًا قَالَ: نَظَرْتُ فِي هَذَا الْأَمْرِ مِمَّنْ كَانَ، فَإِذَا بَدْؤُهُ مِنَ اللَّهِ ﷿ وَإِذَا تَمَامُهُ عَلَى اللَّهِ، وَنَظَرْتُ مَا مِلَاكُهُ، فَإِذَا مِلَاكُهُ الدُّعَاءُ
