1256—Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman informed us: ‘Abd Allah ibn ⦗756⦘ Muhammad al-Baghawi informed us; Qatan ibn Nusayr narrated to us; Ja‘far narrated to us, from Thabit, from Mutarrif, who said:
“I reflected, and found that the son of Adam lies before Allah and before Iblis: if Allah wills to protect him, He protects him; but if He leaves him, Iblis carries him away.”
١٢٥٦ - أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ , أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ ⦗٧٥٦⦘ مُحَمَّدٍ الْبَغَوِيُّ، قَالَ: ثنا قَطَنُ بْنُ نُسَيْرٍ، قَالَ: ثنا جَعْفَرٌ , عَنْ ثَابِتٍ , عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ قَالَ: نَظَرْتُ فَإِذَا ابْنُ آدَمَ مُلْقًى بَيْنَ يَدَيِ اللَّهِ وَبَيْنَ يَدَيْ إِبْلِيسَ، فَإِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ يَعْصِمَهَ عَصَمَهُ، وَإِنْ تَرَكَهُ ذَهَبَ بِهِ إِبْلِيسُ
