1237—Al-Hasan ibn Uthman informed us; Ahmad ibn Hamdan informed us; Bishr reported to us; Mu‘awiyah reported to us; Abu Ishaq reported to us; al-Awza‘i reported to us; Rabi‘ah ibn Yazid narrated to me, from Abdullah ibn al-Daylami, who said:

“I entered upon Abdullah ibn Amr while he was in one of his gardens at al-Waht in Ta’if. With him was a young man from Quraysh who was suspected of drinking wine. I said to him, ‘A report has reached me from you: that whoever drinks a single draught of wine, Allah will not accept his repentance for forty mornings; and that the wretched one is he who was wretched in his mother’s womb.’”
