1235—Al-Hasan ibn Ali ibn Zanjawayh informed us: Ali ibn ⦗747⦘ Ibrahim ibn Salamah narrated to us; Yahya ibn Abd al-Azam narrated to us; al-Muqri narrated to us; Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, from al-Harith ibn Ziyad al-Hadrami, from Ali ibn Rabah al-Lakhmi, who said: Amr ibn al-As said:

“There are three things that amaze me: a man flees from the divine decree, though he will surely meet it; he sees a speck in his brother’s eye and criticizes it, while there is something as large as a tree trunk in his own eye and he does not criticize it; and there is a crookedness in his beast which he strives his utmost to straighten, while there is arrogance within himself and he does not correct it.”
