1226—Al-Qasim ibn Ja‘far informed us. He said: Ali ibn Ishaq narrated to us. He said: Ali ibn Harb narrated to us.

1227—Ahmad ibn Abi al-Tayyib informed us. He said: Muhammad ibn Ja‘far ibn Yazid narrated to us. He said: Ali ibn Harb narrated to us. Khalid ibn Yazid al-‘Adawi narrated to us. He said: Abd al-Aziz ibn Abi Rawwad narrated to us. He said: I heard ‘Ata’ ibn Abi Rabah say:

“I was with Ibn Abbas when a man came to him and said, ‘O Abu al-Abbas, what do you say about one who ⦗743⦘ turned me away from guidance and led me into misguidance and ruin? Do you not see that he has wronged me?’

He replied, ‘If guidance was something belonging to you that he possessed and withheld from you, then he has indeed wronged you. But if it belonged to him, and he gives it to whomever he wills, then he has not wronged you. Get up; do not sit with me.’”

The wording of both reports is the same.
