1224—Al-Hasan ibn Uthman informed us. He said: Ahmad ibn Hamdan informed us. He said: Bishr narrated to us. Mu‘awiyah said: Abu Ishaq narrated to us, from al-Awza‘i, who said: Some of our companions narrated to us from al-Zuhri, from Ibn Abbas, who said:
“Divine decree is the framework of tawhid (affirming Allah’s oneness). Whoever affirms Allah’s oneness but does not believe in divine decree, his disbelief in the decree nullifies his tawhid. But whoever affirms Allah’s oneness and believes in divine decree has grasped the firmest handhold, which will never break.”
