1220—Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Ya‘qub informed us; Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Hatim informed us; Abu Sa‘id ibn Yahya ibn Sa‘id narrated to us; Abu ‘Amir al-‘Aqadi narrated to us; Azrah ibn Thabit al-Ansari narrated to us; al-Zuhri narrated to us from Ibrahim ibn Abd al-Rahman that Abd al-Rahman ibn ‘Awf fell gravely ill and lost consciousness. When he regained consciousness, he asked, “Did I lose consciousness?” They replied, “Yes.” He said, “Two stern men came to me, took me by the hand, and said, ‘Come; we shall take you to be judged before the Mighty, the Trustworthy.’ They took me away, and a man met them and asked, ‘Where are you taking him?’ They replied, ‘We are taking him to be judged before the Mighty, the Trustworthy.’ He said, ‘Leave him, for he is among those for whom felicity was decreed while he was still in his mother’s womb.’”
