1215 — Ahmad ibn Ubayd informed us: Ali ibn Abdullah ibn Mubashshir informed us: Ahmad ibn Sinan narrated to us: Abu Dawud narrated to us: Shu'bah informed us: Mukharik informed us, saying: I heard Tariq ibn Shihab.
1216 — And Ubaydullah ibn Ahmad informed us: al-Husayn ibn Isma'il informed us: Ahmad ibn Mansur Zaj narrated to us: al-Nadr ibn Shumayl narrated to us: Shu'bah narrated to us, from Mukharik, who said: I heard Tariq ibn Shihab, from Abdullah—that is, Ibn Mas'ud—who said: “The truest speech is the Book of Allah, the finest guidance is the guidance of Muhammad, and the worst of matters are those newly introduced into the religion. Therefore, follow and do not introduce innovations. For the wretched one is he who was wretched in his mother’s womb, while the blessed one is he who takes admonition from the fate of others.” Al-Bukhari transmitted it.
