1213 — Abd al-Rahman ibn Ubaydullah informed us. Ahmad ibn Sulayman informed us. He said: Abdullah ibn Ahmad narrated to us. He said: My father narrated to me. He said: Hashim ibn al-Qasim narrated to us. He said: Abd al-Aziz—that is, Ibn Salamah—narrated to us, from Abdullah ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Kab ibn Malik, from Ali ibn Abi Talib, who said:
One day, the divine decree was mentioned in his presence. He placed his index and middle fingers in his mouth, then marked with them on the palm of his hand and said: “I bear witness ⦗738⦘ that these two marks were in the Mother of the Book.”
١٢١٣ - أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، قَالَ: ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، قَالَ: ثنا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ، قَالَ: ثنا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَلَمَةَ , عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ , عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ قَالَ: ذُكِرَ عِنْدَهُ الْقَدَرُ يَوْمًا فَأَدْخَلَ أُصْبُعَيْهِ السَّبَّابَةَ وَالْوُسْطَى فِي فِيهِ فَرَقَمَ بِهِمَا فِي بَاطِنِ يَدِهِ، فَقَالَ: أَشْهَدُ ⦗٧٣٨⦘ أَنَّ هَاتَيْنِ الرَّقْمَتَيْنِ كَانَتَا فِي أُمِّ الْكِتَابِ
