1212 — Isa ibn Ali informed us. Abdullah ibn Muhammad al-Baghawi informed us. He said: Shayban ibn Farrukh narrated to us. He said: Aban narrated to us, from Ya‘la ibn ‘Ata’, from Abu ‘Alqamah—or someone else—that Ali ibn Abi Talib said:
“Indeed, the divine decree does not repel the judgment, but supplication repels the judgment.” Allah said concerning the people of Jonah: “When they believed, We removed from them the punishment of disgrace in the life of this world, and We granted them enjoyment for a time.” [Jonah 10:98]
