1207 — Muhammad ibn Ubayd Allah ibn Jami‘ also informed us: Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Ya‘qub informed us: Ya‘qub ibn Shaybah narrated to us: Ibn Ahmad ibn Ishaq narrated to us: Ahmad ibn Ishaq al-Hadrami narrated to us: Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us: I heard Abu Hakimah say: I heard Abu Uthman al-Nahdi say: I heard Umar ibn al-Khattab, while circumambulating the House, say: “O Allah, if You have decreed me to be among the blessed, then keep me firm therein. But if You have decreed me to be among the wretched, then erase me from it and affirm me among the blessed; for indeed, You erase what You will and confirm what You will, and with You is the Mother of the Book.”
١٢٠٧ - وَأَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جَامِعٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ يَعْقُوبَ، قَالَ: ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ شَيْبَةَ، قَالَ: ثنا ابْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، قَالَ: ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، قَالَ: ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا حُكَيْمَةَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عُثْمَانَ النَّهْدِيَّ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ وَهُوَ يَطُوفُ بِالْبَيْتِ يَقُولُ: اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ كُنْتَ كَتَبْتَنِي فِي السَّعَادَةِ فَأَثْبِتْنِي فِيهَا، وَإِنْ كُنْتَ كَتَبْتَنِي عَلَى الشِّقْوَةِ فَامْحُنِي مِنْهَا وَاثْبِتْنِي فِي السَّعَادَةِ، فَإِنَّكَ تَمْحُو مَا تَشَاءُ وَتُثْبِتُ، وَعِنْدَكَ أُمُّ الْكِتَابِ
