1127 — Ali ibn Ahmad ibn Abdān informed us. He said: Ahmad ibn Ubayd ibn Ismaʿil informed us. He said: al-Hasan ibn Ali ibn al-Mutawakkil narrated to us. He said: Asim narrated to us. He said: Jarir ibn Hazim narrated to us, from Abu Raja’, who said: I heard Ibn Abbas delivering a sermon from the pulpit in Basra, saying: “The affairs of this ummah will continue to be sound—or rightly ordered—so long as they do not investigate children and divine decree; or until they begin to investigate children and divine decree.”
