1116 — Abd al-Rahman ibn Ahmad informed us: Muhammad ibn Isma'il al-Farisi informed us: Ahmad ibn Abd al-Wahhab narrated to us: My father narrated to us: Baqiyyah narrated to us, from al-Awza'i, who said: al-Ala ibn al-Hajjaj narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ubayd al-Makki, from Ibn Abbas, that a man who denied the divine decree came among us. Ibn Abbas said, although he was blind at the time, “Show him to me.” They asked him, “What will you do with him?” He replied, “By Him in Whose Hand is my soul, if I get hold of him, I will bite off his nose; and if I get my hands on his neck, I will smash it. For I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say:
“As though I can see the women of Banu Fahm circumambulating al-Khazraj, their buttocks jostling against one another, as polytheists. This is the first act of polytheism in Islam. By Him in Whose Hand is my soul, their corrupt view will continue to lead them on until they deny that Allah decrees good, just as they have denied that He decrees evil.”
