73—Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Amr informed us: Abd Allah ibn Sulayman ibn al-Ash'ath informed us; al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi' narrated to us; Abu Dawud al-Hafari narrated to us, from Ash'ath ibn Ishaq, from Ja'far ibn Abi al-Mughirah, from Shimr ibn 'Atiyyah, concerning the saying of Allah Most High:
“Indeed, I am surely Most Forgiving to whoever repents, believes, does righteous deeds, and then remains steadfast.” [Ta-Ha 20:82]
He said: “Whoever repents from polytheism, believes in Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, and fulfills the obligatory duties, then remains steadfast.” He said: “Upon the sunnah.”
