1083—Ahmad ibn Umar ibn Muhammad al-Isbahani informed us. He said: Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Ziyad informed us. He said: Mawhab ibn Yazid narrated to us. He said: Ibn Wahb informed us. He said: Abd al-Rahman ibn Salman informed us, from him—that is, from Uqayl—from Ikrimah, from Ibn Abbas, who said:

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, came out and heard some of his Companions discussing something. He said: “You have entered into two paths of great depth, through which the People of the Book before you perished.” He then brought out a book concerning them and read:

“This is a book from Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful, containing the names of the people of Paradise, together with the names of their fathers, their tribes, and their clans, complete down to the last of them; not one of them shall be omitted: ‘A party will be in Paradise and a party in the Blaze.’” [al-Shura: 7]
