1079—Al-Hasan ibn Uthman informed us: Isma'il ibn Muhammad informed us: Ibrahim ibn Hani narrated to us: Ali ibn Ma'bad narrated to us: Baqiyyah ibn al-Walid narrated to us, from al-Awza'i, who said: Rabi'ah ibn Yazid narrated to me; Abdullah ibn al-Daylami narrated to me, from Abdullah ibn Amr, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say:

“Indeed, Allah created creation in darkness, then cast upon them some of His light. Whoever was touched by any of it that day was guided, and whoever it missed went astray. This is why he says: ‘The Pen has dried concerning Allah’s knowledge.’”
