1060 — ‘Ali ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Umar informed us; he said: Ahmad ibn ⦗660⦘ Khalid al-Hazawwari informed us; he said: Muhammad ibn Humayd narrated to us; he said: Ya‘qub ibn ‘Abd Allah narrated to us, from Ja‘far, from Sa‘id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn ‘Abbas, who said:

“When the drop of fluid settles in the womb, it remains for four months and ten days. Then the soul is breathed into it, after which it remains for forty nights. Then an angel is sent to it; he strikes it at the nape of the neck and writes: wretched or blessed.”
