1059 — Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman informed us; he said: Yahya ibn Muhammad ibn Sa‘id narrated to us; he said: Muslim ibn Shabib narrated to us; he said: Zayd ibn Yahya ibn ‘Ubayd al-Dimashqi narrated to us; he said: Khalid ibn Subayh narrated to us—namely Khalid ibn Yazid, identified by his grandfather—from Isma‘il ibn ‘Ubayd Allah, who was Ibn Abi al-Muhajir al-Dimashqi, that Umm al-Darda related to him, saying: Abu al-Darda narrated to us: Our Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, informed us, saying:

“Allah has decreed five matters for every servant: his appointed term, his provision, his resting place, the trace he leaves behind, and whether he is wretched or blessed.”
