1046—And ‘Isa ibn ‘Ali informed us: ‘Abd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-‘Aziz al-Baghawi informed us: Dawud ibn ‘Amr narrated to us: Muhammad ibn Muslim narrated to us, from ‘Amr, who heard Abu al-Tufayl say: Hudhayfah ibn Asid said: “I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: ‘When forty-five nights have passed over the drop of fluid, the angel says—in Ibn ‘Uyaynah’s narration, “then he says”—: “My Lord, will he be wretched or blessed?” Allah decrees it, and they write it down. The angel says: “Male or female?” Allah decrees, and the angel records it. He says: “His deeds and his lifespan?” Allah decrees, and the angel records it.’ He said: ‘Then he folds up the record, and nothing is added to it or taken away from it.’” Muslim recorded it through Ibn ‘Uyaynah’s narration.
