Abd Allah ibn Muslim ibn Yahya informed us; al-Husayn ibn Ismail informed us; Ahmad ibn al-Miqdam narrated to us. He said: Bishr ibn al-Mufaddal narrated to us, from Dawud, from Amir, from Abu Hurayrah, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said:

“Adam prevailed over Moses in the argument. Moses said, ‘Are you Adam, the father of mankind, who brought misery upon people and expelled them from Paradise?’ He replied, ‘Yes. Are you Moses, whom Allah chose above the people by means of His messages and His speech?’ He said, ‘Indeed.’ Adam said, ‘Do you not find in what was sent down to you that He would bring me out of it before He admitted me into it?’ Thus Adam defeated Moses in the argument.”
