1030—Muhammad ibn Umar ibn Muhammad ibn Humayd informed us; Ahmad ibn Abd Allah al-Wakil narrated to us; al-Abbas ibn Yazid narrated to us; Sufyan ibn Uyaynah narrated to us.

1031—Muhammad ibn al-Husayn al-Farisi informed us. Muhammad ibn Umayr al-Bazzaz, in Egypt, said: Yunus ibn Abd al-Ala narrated to us; Sufyan narrated to us.

1032—Muhammad ibn Ubayd Allah ibn al-Qasim informed us; Muhammad ibn ⦗642⦘ Jafar ibn Yazid narrated to us; Ali ibn Harb narrated to us; Sufyan ibn Uyaynah narrated to us, from Amr, from Tawus, who heard Abu Hurayrah say: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

“Adam and Moses disputed with one another. Moses said, ‘O Adam, you are our father; you caused us to leave Paradise.’ Adam replied, ‘O Moses, Allah chose you to speak with Him and inscribed the Torah for you with His Hand. Do you blame me for something that He had decreed for me forty years before He created me?’ Thus Adam prevailed over Moses in the argument.”

The wording is that of Ali ibn Harb. It was recorded by al-Bukhari and Muslim.
