1012—Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Abi Muslim informed us; Ahmad ibn al-Hasan informed us; Ja‘far ibn Muhammad narrated to us; Khalf ibn Muhammad al-Wasiti, known as Kurdus, narrated to us; Ya‘qub ibn Muhammad narrated to us; al-Rabi‘ ibn Habib narrated to us, from Zayd ibn Aslam, who said:

“By Allah, the Qadariyyah have not spoken as Allah, Mighty and Majestic, has spoken; nor as the people of Paradise have spoken; nor as the people of the Fire have spoken; nor as their brother Iblis has spoken. ⦗629⦘ Allah, Mighty and Majestic, said: ‘And you do not will unless Allah, Lord of all worlds, wills.’

The angels said: ‘We have no knowledge except what You have taught us.’ [al-Baqarah 2:32]

Shu‘ayb said: ‘It is not for us to return to it unless Allah, our Lord, wills.’ [al-A‘raf 7:89]

The people of Paradise said: ‘All praise belongs to Allah, who has guided us to this. We would never have found guidance had Allah not guided us.’ [al-A‘raf 7:43]

The people of the Fire said: ‘Our wretchedness overcame us.’ [al-Mu’minun 23:106]

And their brother Iblis said: ‘My Lord, because You have led me astray…’ [al-Hijr 15:39]
