1009 — Muhammad ibn Umar ibn Muhammad ibn Humayd informed us: Muhammad ibn Makhlad narrated to us: Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn al-Hajjaj al-Marwazi, a companion of Ahmad ibn Hanbal, narrated to us: I heard Abu Abd Allah Ahmad ibn Hanbal say regarding His saying, exalted is He, “And when We took from the prophets their covenant” [al-Ahzab 33:7]: “It is an argument against the Qadariyyah.” He said: “And from you, and from Noah” [al-Ahzab 33:7]: “He mentioned him before Noah. This is an argument against them.”
