985—ʿUbayd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Ahmad informed us; Hamzah ibn al-Qasim al-Hashimi narrated to us; Muhammad ibn ʿUbayd Allah ibn Abi Dawud narrated to us; Yunus ibn Muhammad narrated to us; al-Muʿtamir narrated to us, from his father, from Khusayf, who said: Mujahid, while I was with him, asked Muhammad ibn Kaʿb al-Qurazi about the verse, “Indeed, the record of the wicked is in Sijjin.” [al-Mutaffifin 83:7] Muhammad replied: “Allah, Most High, inscribed the record of the wicked in the lowest earth, and they act in accordance with what He has inscribed for them in that record. And He inscribed the record of the righteous and placed it in ʿIlliyyin; they are brought forth until they act in accordance with what He has inscribed for them in that record.”
