968—Muhammad ibn ‘Ali ibn Mahdi informed us; he said: Ahmad ibn ‘Amr narrated to us; he said: Yunus ibn ‘Abd al-A‘la narrated to us; he said: Ashhab narrated to us; he said: I asked Malik about His saying: “They will continue to differ, except those upon whom your Lord has mercy; and for that He created them.” [Surah Hud, 11:119] He said: “He created them so that one party would be in Paradise and one party in the Fire.”
