966—Muhammad ibn Ja‘far informed us; he said: ‘Ubayd ibn Thabit narrated to us; he said: Ahmad ibn Mansur narrated to us; he said: ‘Abd Allah ibn Salih narrated to us; he said: Mu‘awiyah ibn Salih narrated to us, from ‘Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn ‘Abbas, concerning His saying: “They will continue to differ, except those upon whom your Lord has mercy. And for that He created them.” [Hud 11:119]

He said: “They are two groups: one group upon whom He has mercy, and so they do not differ; and another group upon whom He does not have mercy, and so they differ: ‘And among them are the wretched and the blessed.’” [Hud 11:105]
