954 — Ubayd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Ahmad informed us: Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Ahmad informed us: Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Yazid al-Riyahi informed us: my father narrated to us: Yahya ibn Maymun al-Haddadi narrated to us: Yunus ibn Ubayd narrated to us, from al-Hasan, regarding these verses: “Then inspired it with its wickedness and its righteousness” [al-Shams 91:8]; “Successful indeed is the one who purifies it” [al-Shams 91:9]; and “ruined indeed is the one who corrupts it” [al-Shams 91:10].

Al-Hasan said: “Successful indeed is the soul which Allah has made God-fearing, and ruined indeed is the soul which Allah, Mighty and Majestic, has led astray.”
