946—Muḥammad ibn ʿUthmān al-Daqīqī informed us; Muḥammad ibn Manṣūr ibn Abī al-Jahm related to us; Naṣr ibn ʿAlī related to us; Abū Aḥmad related to us; Sufyān related to us, from Ziyād ibn Ismāʿīl al-Makhzūmī, who said: Muḥammad ibn ʿAbbād ibn Jaʿfar related to us; Abū Hurayrah related to us, saying: The polytheists of Quraysh came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to dispute with him concerning the divine decree, whereupon this verse was revealed:

“Indeed, the wicked are in error and blazing Fire. On the Day they are dragged face down into the Fire: ‘Taste the touch of Hell!’ Indeed, We have created all things according to a precise decree.” [al-Qamar 54:47–49]
