to profess belief in divine decree. Ayyub al-Sakhtiyani said: “I lived among the people, and their only words were: ‘Even if He has decreed, and even if He has determined.’”
قَالَ بِالْقَدَرِ وَعَنْ أَيُّوبَ السَّخْتِيَانِيِّ: أَدْرَكْتُ النَّاسَ وَمَا كَلَامُهُمْ إِلَّا: وَإِنْ قَضَى، وَإِنْ قَدَّرَ.
