- Abd al-Rahman ibn Umar informed us by authorization: Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Yaqub informed us; my grandfather Yaqub ibn Shaybah narrated to us; Uthman ibn Muhammad narrated to us; Abu Usamah informed us; Sufyan narrated to us; Ibrahim ibn Abi Hafsah, the seller of sābirī cloth, informed me, saying:
“I said to Ali ibn al-Husayn, ‘Some people say: We do not marry except those who share our views, and we do not pray behind anyone except one who shares our views.’ Ali ibn al-Husayn replied, ‘We marry them in accordance with the sunnah, and we pray behind them in accordance with the sunnah.’”
٥٧ - أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عُمَرَ إِجَازَةً , أنبا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ يَعْقُوبَ , حَدَّثَنَا جَدِّي يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ شَيْبَةَ , ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ , أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ , ثنا سُفْيَانُ , أَخْبَرَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ أَبِي حَفْصَةَ بَيَّاعُ السَّابَرِيِّ قَالَ: " قُلْتُ لِعَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ: نَاسٌ يَقُولُونَ: لَا نَنْكِحُ إِلَّا مَنْ كَانَ عَلَى رَأَيْنَا , وَلَا نُصَلِّي إِلَّا خَلْفَ مَنْ كَانَ عَلَى رَأْيِنَا. قَالَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ: «نَنْكِحُهُمْ بِالسُّنَّةِ , وَنُصَلِّي خَلْفَهُمْ بِالسُّنَّةِ»
