938—He said: And I heard 927 Ishaq say:

“The hallmark of Jahm and his followers is their accusation against the people of the congregation, and their obsessive devotion to the lie that they are anthropomorphists. Rather, they themselves are the negators of Allah’s attributes. Indeed, if it were permissible to call them anthropomorphists, that designation would fit them, for they say that the Lord is in every place in His entirety—equally in the lowest earths and the highest heavens. They have lied in this, and disbelief necessarily follows from it.”

939—Abd al-Rahman cited it. He said: I heard my father say:

“The hallmark of the Jahmiyyah is that they call the people of the sunnah anthropomorphists; the hallmark of the Qadariyyah is that they call the people of the sunnah fatalists; the hallmark of the Murji’ah is that they call the people of the sunnah proponents of deficient faith; the hallmark of the Mu‘tazilah is that they call the people of the sunnah Hashawiyyah; and the hallmark of the Rafidah is that they call the people of the sunnah Nabitah.”
