934—Abd al-Rahman cited it. He said: Ahmad ibn Sinan narrated to us. He said: I heard Shadh ibn Yahya al-Wasiti say:

“I was sitting with Yazid ibn Harun when a man came and said, ‘O Abu Khalid, what do you say regarding the Jahmiyyah?’ He replied, ‘They are to be called upon to repent. The Jahmiyyah went to excess, and their excess ultimately led them to negate; while the anthropomorphists went to excess, and their excess ultimately led them to liken Allah to His creation. Thus, the Jahmiyyah are to be called upon to repent, and the anthropomorphists are likewise.’ He charged them with a grave matter.”
