931—Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn al-Jarrah informed us; Abdullah ibn Sulayman ibn al-Ash‘ath informed us; Nasr ibn Ali narrated to us; my father informed me; Shubah narrated to me. He said ⦗584⦘: Al-A‘mash said to me, “What do you make of His saying, ‘So if they believe in the like of that which you believe in’ [al-Baqarah 2:137]?” I replied, “Abu Hamzah narrated to me that Ibn Abbas said to me: ‘Do not say, “So if they believe in the like of that which you believe in,” for Allah has no likeness. Rather, say: “So if they believe in that which you believe in, then they have been guided.”’”
٩٣١ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْجَرَّاحِ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ الْأَشْعَثِ، ثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي، حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ ⦗٥٨٤⦘: قَالَ لِيَ الْأَعْمَشُ: مَا عِنْدَكَ فِي قَوْلِهِ ﴿فَإِنْ آمَنُوا بِمِثْلِ مَا آمَنْتُمْ بِهِ﴾ [البقرة: ١٣٧] فَقُلْتُ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو حَمْزَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ لِيَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ: " لَا تَقُلْ: ﴿فَإِنْ آمَنُوا بِمِثْلِ مَا آمَنْتُمْ بِهِ﴾ [البقرة: ١٣٧] فَإِنَّهُ لَيْسَ لِلَّهِ مِثْلٌ وَلَكَنْ قُلْ: فَإِنْ آمَنُوا بِالَّذِي آمَنْتُمْ بِهِ فَقَدِ اهْتَدَوْا "
