920—Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahman informed us: Muhammad ibn Harun al-Hadrami related to us; Raja’ ibn al-Murajja’ related to us; Yazid ibn Abi Hakim related to us; al-Hakam ibn Aban related to us; Ikrimah related to us from Ibn Abbas, who was asked, “Did Muhammad see his Lord?” He replied, “Yes.”

Ibn Abbas was then asked, “Then what of His saying, ‘Vision cannot encompass Him, though He encompasses all vision’ [Quran 6:103]?” He said, “May you be bereft of your mother! That is His light—the light that is His. When He manifests Himself through His light, nothing can encompass Him.”
