- Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Ibrahim al-Jawhari reported to us in Tarsus: Ahmad ibn Salman narrated to us, saying: Abdullah ibn Jabir al-Tarsusi narrated to me; Ja‘far ibn Abd al-Wahid narrated to us; Abu Salih al-Farra’ told us, from Sahl ibn Mahmud, the son-in-law of Abu Bakr ibn Ayyash, who said: I heard Abu Bakr ibn Ayyash say: “The sunnah within Islam is more precious than Islam among all other religions.”
٥٤ - أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْجَوْهَرِيُّ بِطَرَسُوسَ , ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَلْمَانَ , قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَابِرٍ الطَّرَسُوسِيُّ , قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَاحِدِ , قَالَ: قَالَ لَنَا أَبُو صَالِحٍ الْفَرَّاءُ , عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ مَحْمُودٍ خَتَنِ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَيَّاشٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا بَكْرِ بْنَ عَيَّاشٍ يَقُولُ: «السُّنَّةُ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ أَعَزُّ مِنَ الْإِسْلَامِ فِي سَائِرِ الْأَدْيَانِ»
