Bughyat al-Mutatawwi fi Salat al-TatawwuMuhammad ibn Umar Bazmul

Abū Hurayrah reported that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Whoever bathes, then attends the Friday prayer and prays as much as has been decreed for him, then listens silently until the imam finishes his sermon, and then joins him in prayer, will be forgiven for what lies between that Friday and the next, as well as three additional days.” Muslim narrated it. (1)

In a version narrated by Abū Dāwūd: “Whoever bathes on Friday, puts on his finest clothes, applies perfume if he has any, and then attends the Friday prayer without stepping over people’s necks; then prays as much as Allah has decreed for him and listens silently from the time his imam comes out until he finishes the prayer—that will serve as expiation for the period between that Friday and the preceding Friday.” He said that Abū Hurayrah would add: “And three additional days,” and would say: “A good deed is rewarded tenfold.” (2)

  • (2-9-4) The Sunnah Prayer After the Friday Prayer:

The hadith of Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, was cited earlier. It includes the words: “two units of prayer after the Friday prayer in his home.” (3)

Abū Hurayrah reported that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “When any of you performs the Friday prayer, let him pray four units afterward.” Muslim narrated it.

Another version narrated by Muslim states: “Whoever among you wishes to pray after the Friday prayer should pray four units.” (4)
