Paradise (or: ‘except that a house is built for him in Paradise’): [four rak‘ahs before Zuhr, two rak‘ahs after Zuhr, and two rak‘ahs after Maghrib ...].”
There is also the hadith of Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said: “I memorized ten rak‘ahs from the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace): two rak‘ahs before Zuhr, two after it, and two after Maghrib in his home ...”
And there is the hadith of Abd Allah ibn Shaqīq, who said: I asked Aisha about the voluntary prayers of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). She said: “He used to perform four rak‘ahs in my home before Zuhr. He would then go out and lead the people in prayer, after which he would return and perform two rak‘ahs. He would also lead the people in the Maghrib prayer, then return and perform two rak‘ahs ...”
Third: The Particular Emphasis on Performing It at Home:
It was part of his guidance—may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him—to perform voluntary prayers at home, unless some circumstance prevented it. It is also reported that he (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) particularly emphasized performing the regular Sunnah prayer of Maghrib at home.
Mahmūd ibn Labīd reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) came to the Banū Abd al-Ashhal and led them in the Maghrib prayer. After concluding the prayer with the salutation, he said: “Perform these two rak‘ahs in your homes.” It was narrated by Ahmad and graded authentic by Ibn Khuzayma. (1)
Ka‘b ibn Ujra reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) performed the Maghrib prayer in the mosque of the Banū Abd al-Ashhal. When he had finished, some people stood to perform voluntary prayers, whereupon the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: “You should perform this prayer in your homes.” It was narrated by Abū Dāwūd and al-Nasā’ī.
