A Useful Point:
The hadiths of Aisha and Ibn Abbās indicate that it is recommended to deliver a sermon after the eclipse prayer. (1)
Third issue: Recitation in the Eclipse Prayer Is Aloud:
The recitation in the eclipse prayer is aloud, as practiced by the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him.
Aisha—may Allah be pleased with her—reported: “The Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—recited aloud during the eclipse prayer. When he finished his recitation, he pronounced the takbīr and bowed. Upon rising from the bowing, he said, ‘Allah hears whoever praises Him. Our Lord, to You belongs all praise.’ He then resumed reciting, completing the eclipse prayer with four bowings in two units and four prostrations.” Reported by al-Bukhārī and Muslim. (2)
Al-Tirmidhī—may Allah have mercy on him—said: “The scholars differed concerning recitation in the eclipse prayer. Some held that the recitation should be silent when it is performed during the day, while others held that it should be aloud, as in the two Eid prayers and the Friday prayer. This is the view of Mālik, Ahmad, and Ishāq, who held that it should be aloud. Al-Shāfiī said, ‘It should not be aloud.’” (3) End quote.
