with them when they agreed upon their plan while they were scheming.” (Yusuf 12:102)
These particulars and detailed reports that the Messenger ﷺ laid out on the basis of revelation corrected most of the narratives and events contained in the scriptures of the People of the Book—writings that had been distorted and disfigured by the myths and legends they had appended to them. Even matters concerning Jesus and his mother—their birth and upbringing—and those concerning Moses, his birth and upbringing, were unknown to the People of the Book in their true form until the Quran arrived and recounted them exactly as they had occurred. This astonished the People of the Book and others besides them, silencing their tongues so that none of them, whether contemporaries of the Prophet or those who came after, could deny a single one of these accounts. It thus became one of the greatest proofs that he is, in truth, the Messenger of Allah.
At other times the Quran establishes his prophethood by pointing to the perfection of Allah’s wisdom and the completeness of His power: supporting His Messenger, granting him victory over his enemies, and giving him authority in the land are what the wisdom and mercy of the Mighty, the Wise, necessarily entail. Whoever casts doubt on his mission, in fact, casts doubt on Allah’s wisdom, power, mercy, and even His very lordship.
Likewise, Allah’s manifest aid and overwhelming support for this Prophet ﷺ against nations that were among the most powerful people on earth stand as signs of his prophethood and proofs of divine oneness—plain to all who reflect.
The Quran also confirms his prophethood and messengership through the plenitude of perfect qualities Allah gathered within him, the noble character he embodies, and the fact that every lofty virtue finds its highest and most complete expression in the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
When someone’s attributes are so exalted, and his qualities surpass those of all creation—foremost among them truthfulness and trustworthiness—does this not constitute the clearest proof that he is the Messenger of the Lord of all worlds, the chosen one selected from all creatures?
The Quran further substantiates his mission by what is recorded in the earlier scriptures and in the glad tidings proclaimed by the prophets and messengers of old, whether by mentioning his very name or by describing his noble traits, the traits of his community, and the traits of his religion, as in His words: “and giving glad tidings of a messenger who will come after me, whose name is Ahmad” (as-Saff 61:6).
And at other times it affirms his messengership through the unseen matters of the past and the future that he foretold,
