These noble verses—and others like them—contain in every word a principle, a comprehensive foundation that embraces many meanings. A large number of them have already been cited while discussing the rules, and they are readily available to anyone who has memorised the Quran and strives to understand its meanings; all praise belongs to Allah.
All praise is due to Allah, by whose favour righteous deeds are perfected. Allah, exalted be He, enabled us to compile this work, so that—praise be to Allah—despite its brevity, conciseness, and clarity, it delights the reader, assists in understanding the speech of the Lord of all worlds, and reveals to people of insight and knowledge strongholds, pathways, methods, and beneficial foundations not usually gathered in a single place. The substance of the book itself spares the need for further description.
I ask Allah, the Most High, to make it purely for His noble Face, a means of drawing near to Him in the gardens of bliss, and to grant benefit through it to its author, its reader, all who peruse it, and the entire Muslim community, by His grace, generosity, bounty, and kindness—for He is the best of those who show mercy. May Allah’s blessings be upon Muhammad, upon his pure and noble family, upon his righteous Companions, and upon those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Recompense.
This was stated and written by its compiler, the servant ever in need of Allah in all circumstances, ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Nāṣir Abū ʿAbdillāh al-Saʿdī.
