The instances of this rule are too numerous to count. At its core it means striving, to the extent one is able, for the attainable degree of perfection: by securing benefits or enhancing them, and by removing harms and evils or at least diminishing them—whether those matters are comprehensive or partial, far-reaching or confined to oneself.
