and pilgrimage, together with the rest of the prescribed deeds and every form of benevolence toward creation—for although their supreme purpose is to secure Allah’s good pleasure, nearness, and reward, and to show kindness to His servants, they also confer health upon the body, exercise and train it, serve as discipline and repose for the soul, bring joy to the heart, and contain special secrets that preserve and nurture well-being while removing whatever is harmful.

In sum, all the revealed laws ultimately aim at the rectification of hearts, spirits, morals, bodies, wealth, and both the concerns of this world and the Hereafter. Allah knows best.
