“…when hardship befalls you at sea, all those you call upon besides Him vanish” (17:67).
He, exalted be He, also says, “Who is it that answers the distressed one when he calls upon Him, removes affliction, and appoints you as successors on the earth?” (27:62).
And He says, “All who are in the heavens and the earth ask Him; each day He is engaged in a matter of His own decree” (55:29).
Allah has set forth this doctrine of pure monotheism in His Book and has blocked every path that could lead to associating others with Him, so that no one should fear anyone but Allah, hope in none but Him, and rely on none save Him. He, the Exalted, says, “So do not fear people; fear Me, and do not barter My revelations for a trivial price” (5:44).
He says as well, “It is only Satan who frightens (you) through his allies”—meaning he seeks to make you fear his followers—“so do not fear them; fear Me, if indeed you are believers” (3:175).
The Exalted also states, “Have you not seen those to whom it was said, ‘Hold back your hands, establish prayer, and give zakah’? Yet when fighting was prescribed for them, a faction of them feared people as they should fear Allah—or with even greater fear” (4:77).
And He says, “The only ones who should tend the mosques of Allah are those who believe in Allah and the Last Day, establish prayer, give zakah, and fear none but Allah” (9:18).
And He, exalted be He, says, “Whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger, fears Allah, and is mindful of Him—it is they who will triumph” (24:52).
