Our Work in This Book

• We have critically verified the relevant passages from Ibn Taymiyyah’s Majmūʿ al-Fatāwā, specifically those found in volume 27, pages 450–490.

• We examined Ibn Taymiyyah’s views, and whenever he—undoubtedly in good faith—departed from what we judge to be established fact, we replied with the opinions of the major scholars and historians from whom he had drawn, such as al-Ṭabarī, al-Masʿūdī, Ibn ʿAbd Rabbih, Qāḍī Ibn al-ʿArabī, and Imām al-Qurṭubī.

• We corrected spelling slips, scribal errors, and textual distortions, and we explained obscure terms.

• We located and documented every Qurʾanic verse and hadith cited by Ibn Taymiyyah—may Allah have mercy on him—so that the benefit might be complete and the material easily accessible.

• Where the discussion required, we have added our own considered opinion.

• May Allah have mercy on Ibn Taymiyyah and on all who follow his path and carry his banner in championing the sunnah and suppressing innovation.
